The Team: Report to Matt, VP of R&D

This is the only R&D person in the new facility, 5 other team mates that work in the Kernersville plant, most are NC State textile grads, communicate very open and freely and collab. Issues or challenges, they go and talk to someone about it at their desk, a lot of verbal communication, not behind a computer screen and sitting behind a desk. 

 

They are all very connected. Matt also manages a team in their Maine facility, on a weekly basis they have a staff meeting and get together, a lot of commrodery. 

 

They will temp be the 1 person at the new W.S. facility, a lot of interaction is with the core engineering team at the new facility, that team is in place already. A younger group of folks, not really any old people there. It is going to be a fun and collab group at the W.S. facility. 

 

Interview process: 

Local: bring onsite 1st for an in-person, would not do a phone interview, if they like them a lot, would come to NC site, Kernersville, as a follow up they might let them visit the CA site, they do not want to scare them off with the CA facility, it needs some TLC. CA maybe, not sure they would do it at all, might not bring any value to the person. 

Relo: phone interview with a few people, then bring onsite and fly in for the interview process. 

 

Timeline: Matt realistically would like to have the person sometime this summer to join the team. Matt has been absorbing a lot of the development work this person would be doing. 

 

This is a new role: the company that they bought in CA, were stripped of their resources, Matt is doing all the R&D now, he needs an R&D person. The company got really lean. 

 

Compensation: $100-120k in base, there is no bonus plan for this position. They are open to negotiating beyond that depending on experience. Go up to $140k in base. He said when he is speaking to people on LI he doesnt talk to them about money. Matt said to be open with compensation in my search.
